It languishes so long without updates or anything nourishing, its tiny little cry of "update meeeee" lost in the sea of other stuff. Thanks to Calli, I now have that little impetus to update this thing. ^_^
So. Stuff. College has been going moderately well thus far. I must learn to go to sleep earlier than I have been, but this was mostly anticipated. It did not help that my roomie's alarm clock, which I could not reach, went off at intermittent intervals after 7:00 without waking him up. I feel bad for him, though. Yesterday, he went wading while forgetting his cell phone in pants, and then came down with pink-eye. I'm moderately worried about contracting it, but... mreh. I'll deal.
I really should be in church right now. Unfortunately, I forgot that it was at 7:00 as opposed to 8:00, and there was the possibility that I'd have to make up a substance abuse seminar that I missed because I was at the library. The folks at W&M mean well, but really... are those going to sway anyone? At all? I doubt it. I doubt it very much. I must also finish the second part of AlcoholEDU eventually. The irony of this is all rather amusing to me, truth be told.
Random tangent: RARUGH SLAUGHTER LITTLE BRATS FROM RPG ON AIM BUGGING ME. SLAUGHTER SLAUGHTER PAINT WALLS WITH VISCERA.
Thank you, I needded that.
-ripping a page out of HK-47's book- Introspection: I don't get depressed very easily. I do not stay discouraged long. This is very, very fortunate and I thank the Lord that he made me this way. This morning, I woke up to almost no sleep, fell BACK asleep, and missed class. All of my laundry needed doing, there was alcohol stuff... and I stepped outside. It was pretty, and not too hot. Sunny. There were even birds singing. I couldn't stay discouraged, even if I wanted to.
So my laundry still needs doing. And there's still alcohol stuff. And I get a creeping feeling that there's something I'm missing from econ, despite the fact that I get called by others to help them out with it. But the Caf had excellent food tonight, and EnviSci was fun, and all is still okay in the world.
Now, off to absorb some CompSci so that I don't blunder my way through the lab tomorrow... |

The Tooth and Claw universe is on my braaaain. AGAIN.
I need to write it just so it will SHUT UP and LEAVE ME ALONE.
95% of you will have no clue what this entry means. Sorry. >_<
More stuffs later. For now, I try to recall the cyberpunk we read at the end of AP English.

The other day, our local news affiliate interviewed me on the Supreme Court findings in the Hill and House cases concerning the death penalty.
It was evidently aired, because I went to order today at Wendy's and the ordertaker's first reaction was "Hey, I saw you on TV!" Uncertain whether she agreed with me or not, but she was friendly enough even if she did overfill the Coke.
Anyhow, time for some development in the Anthandor universe, before the ideas slip away. Tonight is a look at the chimaerans, who will be a central focus of the story and my attempt to bring furres into line with something that is vaguely realistic.
NOTE: If for some reason you are offended by furries, don't read. Also, sexual and religious themes are involved. Both are, yanno, essential elements to a culture. >_>
FINAL NOTE: I just read this and realized that it could be taken as some form of political commentary. It's not. It's actually about chimaerans. 'Kay? 'Kay.

If I had one concern about Harbinger, it was that I was casting him as the steriotypical evil ZX, plotting to kill people and break things just because it was fun...
Plink just completely blew my mind -- and Harbinger's. o_o His character is, I think, going to have much more depth than evil-ZX-in-a-can. Last night before I went to bed, I saw a beautiful story of death and betrayal and redemption... I'm never going to be able to write it well enough, but that's okay. It was worth it to have seen it.
Plink rules.
More to come later, including rants on activists and activism, after I come back from lunch with the parents. :D

The first part of the day was more or less blaaah, although of note I did manage to once again avoid serious condemnation from ze boss for assorted Things Not Done...
And now, lots of little things are coming together to make this evening unexpectedly good. For some reason, despite my lousy bio I completely tested out of holodeck training in ASR. o_o I'm to report for assignment immediately. I have my first non-tourney match in AGES on MMM going right now, and win or lose fighting is much much more fun when there's nothing but pride riding on the outcome. I got food money, so tonight I will eat like a king. Or perhaps not tonight, but later. Huzzah for having money for food! Ideas for writing are poking at me, and despite the piles of papers and the mess I still need to take care of in my room, things seem good.
Tomorrow, an organizer from NCADP is coming to meet with Jack. Basically, in the tradition of the large nonprofit organizations, instead of funding the smaller nonprofits they decided to... HIRE SOMEONE ELSE! What brilliance! What efficiency! They'll probably be paying her enough money to come up with a PLAN that VADP could use to actually plan AND implement. I have come to the conclusion that non-profit organizations are either small and struggling for life or large, bloated and rather like a government agency. There seems to be no middle ground of [brutal] efficiency where the majority of businesses lie.
Enough ranting on that subject. Illidan has sent me stuff to read, and I will probably get to that tonight -- once I finish spazzing over assorted happy things.
It's amazing how little it takes to make a blah day good.

Thus far doing well avoiding the Big Foot of Stomping at the office. Upcoming board meeting and my preparations for it are helping. There's still stuff undone, but when isn't there?
Anyhow... for the MMMers or anyone terminally curious, it's time for major RP developments, going in a direction that I had not before anticipated.

» Once More Unto The Breach...
On Sunday, I go back to Charlottesville. Probably Sunday morning-ish, so that I get there in time for church. Awaiting me is a problem with credit card donations, which means an angry Jack, too many postcards to address, and a financial report to write using information that I don't entirely have.
But you know what? It's okay, it really is. Life is a beautiful and wonderful thing. Thanks, Becca and Riot.
Seeing Episode Two again reminded me just how badly done the romance was. I mean, really. Gaah. The action also seemed a little tame compared to Three, but it was still quite good -- and it did come at a different point in the story. Still... urgh. The movie could be improved by selective disembowelment of most of the scenes on Naboo. It was still fun, though. ^_^ Much much.
Visited the grandparents and the apartment that they will be moving into today. I feel vaguely bad that I won't be around very much, and haven't been, but that's the way it goes. Of minor note, the first elevator that we took hiccuped and bucked a few times in carrying us from the second floor to the third, before descending on safety mechanisms to the basement. That was mildly frightening, but only mildly. It also resulted in a much longer walk than my grandmother had been anticipating, so she was pretty much exhausted by the time we got back.
And now, I go to sleep. Tomorrow will be long, but that's okay.

» Yeee home
Going home for the long weekend. I hit exactly between Memorial Day and local graduation. Yay missing high traffic. ^_^
The purpose is my college physical, which will be preformed on Friday, but I'm not averse to hanging out and eating the free food like a bum. If any of you local people are in the area, give me a tag at my home number.
On another note, the application for ASR made my brain bleed. ;_; I hate giving numerous specific and fictitious dates, and love being able to type up history free-form instead of putting it into numerous different subcategories and boxes. MMMers, we have it easy.
Maybe I can even destroy Gavin again... just like old times...

» Mmmmm. Cheerios.
And behold, it is another update! With the revelation that there are actually others out there who might be interested in reading this thing, my poor LJ might be updated more often.
No guarantees. Sorreh. >_<
So I'm sitting at my computer at Abundance House, eating Cheerios and being blown on by two fans. It is not only hot but humid in Charlottesville, which means that I will be lazy and lethargic -- err, make that moreso than usual -- when at home, and staying in the office longer to enjoy the AC. Mrm. Air conditioning. I'm spoiled.
Another execution coming up -- this time, I will do my best not to be overwhelmed by the huge pile of Stuff To Do and thusly end up doing none of it. I won't post details of the case and stuff here right now, but I may bother to put that effort in later.
There are several rants that I have considered making, but right now thanks to the heat and general hunger/tiredness/sloth I will not post any of them yet.
I sure hope that Jack comes through with the food money early this month. I have $3.19 on my Kroger card. Oi...
Call me naive, but college can't get here soon enough.

» Woah...
So I was sitting in the bathroom this afternoon and got a call on my cellphone -- it was Jack, and he's headed down to North Carolina because his older daughter is in labor. If everything works out, it'll be his first grandkid. So that's going to be interesting...
Bought another tail of groceries, and discharged my Kroger card yesterday. I do hope that Jack is back soon enough to put some more money on, because I like to eat. x_x The good news is that I have a reimbursement check coming for my traumatic trip down to Richmond (remind me to tell y'all about that sometime) and that plus the paycheck will allow me to pay my credit card balance and have some extra left over for randomly spending. ^_^ That's the thing about BVS... when you have enough cash to go to Wendy's and Biggie-size a combo without sweating the extra ninety cents, you're rich. Perhaps when I actually do have money, this will keep me from spending it all since I'll be used to not much. I'm not holding my breath on that, though.

Hey steel_jaguar,
Your mutual friend delusivelongan has noticed that you last updated your journal on LiveJournal 6 weeks ago. Be a friend and go post. (http://www.livejournal.com/update.bml)
Sincerely, The LiveJournal team
It's so nice to be loved. Thanks, Becca. ^_^
Anyhow, work continues and I sometimes just want to tear a piece out of Jack. This is likely a common situation with any job that has a boss, so eh...
VADP now has a weblog! Yay! Go visit vadporg.blogspot.com and feast your eyes upon all the precanned template greatness! And on a side note, it took me a good three or four tries to get Jack on as a contributor. It's amazing how people think you're an internet wizard if you just, y'know, follow the little clicky-forms.
My room is a wreck and I need to clean it up, but I lack the motivation... mrrgh, sometime I will post a picture and horrify you all. Of course, that'd require a camera and a scanner, or a digital camera, and I lack any of the three. Mrmm, I hope that I get a roommate who will nag me about picking up my stuff, or else college will be kinda interesting.
I don't have much else to say, because I really should be working right now. I'll update sometime later today, probably.
*goes back to the reimbursement forms. Yay.*

So, for those of you who haven't heard, the tests came back on the DNA of Roger Keith Coleman, a man put to death back in 1992. He had claimed his innocence up until his death, and evidently there was some pretty strong doubt about whether he actually committed the crime due to inconclusive DNA testing.
Twelve years later, Governor Mark Warner finally gets off his butt and orders the testing. Said testing comes back, and it turns out that he actually DID commit the crime. Jack is none too pleased with this, as he'd been rather convinced of Coleman's innocence and had been planning a press release and everything.
Bleeehhh. x_x
You know what this means. For the next few days, Jack is going to be in a bad mood and yours truly is going to be scrurrying around like a mouse trying to avoid the Foot of Angry Stomping.
So maybe I exaggerate a little, but he does use some rather colorful language when his computer isn't working... (No, I just hiss and snarl at mine. It seems to understand just fine).
Ahhhh, well. I'll deal with it. Maybe I'll find an excuse to run some errands or something. I should probably be feeling worse about this, but I wasn't personally involved with the Coleman case and trying to prove him innocent in the first place. Otherwise, today was actually a reasonably good day. Perhaps it was because yesterday night, I slept for twelve solid hours... resolved to take a little nap at 8:30, woke up at 4:30 a.m., was like 'meh', ate a cookie and went back to sleep in order to wake up a little before 9:00 this morning. It was glorious, and I had some really neat dreams. Perhaps I should do that more often, as a way of entertaining myself...
Oh, by the way, Microsoft Outlook is a tool of Satan, used to corrupt loyal office workers into cursing and making obscene gestures because it won't work. Just thought you should know.

» ZOMG It's another update!
Well, wasn't too long ago that I entered something in this. Wow! *feels special*
Anyhow, things have been going pretty well. I'm probably going to go out and buy groceries this evening, since I've been putting it off since... well... since I got back from Christmas break. I managed to subsist for an entire week on leftovers and what I smuggled out of my house, though, so I felt pretty good about that. And I always eat well after grocery runs, oh yes I do. *cackles*
Ahem.
Anyhow, my Zoids fanfic is slowly starting to come together in my mind. I may actually start writing the darned thing soon. Made a start last night, but I still need to settle on a few minor things. Like... yanno... the gender of my main character.
>.< Shut up.
But it's good to be writing again. I had missed it much, since my routine got disrupted back in November. So, yaaay! Now I have yet another way to waste my time!
You know, it never ceases to amaze me the number of people who complain that "such-and-such place has nothing to do." Idiots. ANYplace has stuff to do. Anyplace has stuff to do so much that you can think of many, many cool things to do and never get them all done. I have no TV or video game system anywhere in reach (the old computer doesn't count 'cause it sucks so badly), and yet I'm as entertained as I ever was in my entire life. I'm so entertained, in fact, that Knife of Dreams is still sitting on the floor next to my bed, waiting to be read.
Then again, I come from the hick town of Bridgewater, where the event of the year was a steam tractor pull... Heh. All those city people would expire of boredom in Bridgewater. I laugh at them.

» The XBox Hates You!
So, New Year's Eve was absolutely insane. I basically spent the entire day, night and very early morning at The End Games Center, playing several games of Warhammer 40K and Halo. It was absolute insanity and an absolute blast. Our "New Year's game" was energy sword / shotgun on Lockout, a very small level, with many many people. For those of you who are not Halo-literate, they're two of the best short-range weapons in the game, on a small level, with lots of people. The carnage was absolutely beautiful to behold. In the 40K games, I confirmed that I hadn't lost my touch with six months of inactivity, and wiped the board with some Ultramarines and Dark Eldar.
When I came back, Metal Machine Music (awesome Zoids RPG where I'm a member) was having a special New Year's Day free-for-all, so I got in on that. It went until EIGHT IN THE MORNING. So my New Year's was an all-nighter. ^_^ For the second time in my life, I willfully skipped church... mostly because I did NOT trust myself to drive on Route 29 with zero sleep. So I did quiet bible study instead... after I slept the morning away. And part of the afternoon, too.
Today, I had the day off, which rocked. Tomorrow, it's back to the grind with a thousand and one end-of-year things to do. >_> Oh, well. I'll live.
And for all y'all who don't know already, my college choice is made. I'm going to William and Mary! I'll make an entry on that decision in a bit.

Heh. I might as well make a New Years' Resolution that can be kept easily enough... and so, I hereby resolve to update my LiveJournal more often. Of course, given that anything other than an entry in two months is more often... eh.
Just got back from fourteen straight hours of Halo and Warhammer in C'ville. I am amazed that I can even type in English, so far gone is my mental function.
Catch y'all tomorrow -- err, today -- errr... sleeep...

» Friday!
Wheeeee Friday! Friday is so much more significant and special when you're working a normal job and have the weekends off. Well, mostly off. I have a grand total of Absolutely Nothing scheduled for the weekend, except cleaning up my room and doing some laundry, which is an adventure in itself because Abundance House has no dryer... Ah, well, things'll dry just fine in my room, especially with the heater on.
I had a change of heart as I sat down to begin NaNoWriMo last night in earnest, and decided to return to Anthandor, my favoritest universe and the one where I've laid out the most background. Tooth and Claw was just a little rough around the edges. Sooo, I get to expand on the concepts and places that I've already written about, except that this story is advanced about a hundred years into the future of Anthandor, after the stories that I've already written there. Most of our human heroes are therefore dead... *sniff* Ahh, well. Clears the stage for a completely new set of characters. I busted out 2,400 words last night for the prologue, which I'm planning on completely scrapping if I have enough words -- it was more for me, to establish the continuity tie between VoT and Arbiter's Test (working title).
Talked to a fellow MMMer who's participating, and he has so far written about... 600 words. o.o Poor guy.
So, more writing tonight -- if I average between 2,000 and 3,000 a night, I should hit the goal with ease and have enough slack to take a day off here and there. This weekend, I'm aiming for 8-10,000 total new words to get ahead of the curve some. Free time is nice to have like that.
And... I can now see the top of my desk! o.o Did a MAJOR cleanup today, and feel much better about the lack of mess around me. I am actually not a messy person, so it was kind of depressing to have all that squalor.
Have a great weekend, everyone!
